Here is another post in my series about what the best properties are, and this one is specifically about the best townhomes in the Athens Area. There are some great choices and I really think for this Classic City, if you are moving here and don’t want a yard or landscaping to contend with, or if you need that getaway to one of the greatest towns in America, or you might want to be in the best locations around, here are some good choices. Even the lower priced townhomes are in top locations.
To make it clear, to be considered a townhome, you must be a single-family structure attached to another structure. Some of these might officially be in the condo category for specific HOA classification or ownership rights, but we are talking mainly about the style of the building here. There should not be another dwelling above or below you for these homes selected.
Starting right at the top the nod goes to a home in Folley Commons for this home that is a 3 bed, 3.5 bath, with almost 3000 SF and incredible finishing touches. It was a tough decision to give this unit the #1 choice, but it was newer and had a better kitchen open floor plan design. They are asking $419,900 It Has a great family room with built-ins, of course top of the line kitchen with granite and custom cabinets, a beautiful deck that rivals most regular detached homes, and if you were wondering if space in the master was an issue for a townhome, these builders said no way. Really the large master suite could fit all kinds of furniture, has a huge walk in, great shower, separate tub, double sink, and it really is like boutique hotel style.
Now for those of you looking for the best deal on a townhome there are some good choices. First on the list is a great home in a neighborhood called Stratford on the East side off of College Station and Research Dr. The HOA has decided there are no leases allowed so no more than 2 unrelated people can live here. Basically limited to owner occupants. Well priced at $82,900. This home features 4 Beds, 2.5 baths and 2138 SF of space. This is well worth coming to look at with your family if you want a DEAL!
And there should definitely by 2 honorable mentions here. The townhouse on Elliot Cir in Watkinsville is super priced for what you get at $279,900. This property features 3 beds, 3.5 baths, and is an all brick end unit. A must see for Oconee lovers.
Secondly there is a really great deal in possibly the only subdivision of townhomes in all of Winder Barrow. It’s a place called Turtle Creek Villas, and there is a forelcosure listed for only $52,900. The home is actually pretty close to move in ready condition and is in a great location. Home has 2 beds and 2.5 baths with 1,268 SF. It is a nice quiet community that is extremely desirable for renters and homeowners. There is a waiting list for people looking to rent in this subdivision.
